Part 2: The Enchanting Lost World of Tambun Theme Park

Hey ladies, time for my second post on what I did in Tambun when I went up there recently! Today I'm gonna talk about the Lost World Theme Park, where you can do everything from playing with water, to dry amusement rides, to petting animals, feeding birds, and mining for your own tin!

Too many pictures to be posted, so I will try to keep the writings light, and as usual, all pics without watermarks are courtesy of Henry Lee of I Am Studio :)

We travelled to Ipoh in style, on the ETS and later on a tour bus bringing us exactly to this location, The Lost World of Tambun!!! I love how they did up the place, with cat statues 'standing guard' at the entrance. Did you know, there's a legend that if you rub the cat, they will make your wishes come true? Not sure how true it is, but didn't manage to find out, mostly cos I was so busy camwhoring :p

Welcome to the Lost World of Tambun!!!!!!

As part of our greeting party, we had warriors in costumes welcoming us to this awesome place. There were two of them, but I could only capture with one of them >.<

Must-have selfie with the cat :p Looks like those Egyptian cats in those papyrus drawings :p After being under the sun, they are hot to the touch, so I had to quickly take a few and immediately let go. But they are photogenic aren't they? :D

The Lost World of Tambun has been around since 2005, and they have made many families happy since they opened their doors. There are a multitude of things to do and plenty of places to go :)

Put a group of bloggers together, and the next thing they do is camwhore! Here's me with Furfer and Ben Dan :)

Second group photo with Caroline, Frankie, Kah Mon, Jennifer, and Carolyn! :)

Map of the place. It's huge, and located just at the foot of the mountain! There are acres of land available to them, and I must say, they have put it to really good use. The bulk of the land is taken up by the theme park, but a small part of it is for the hot springs :) There are five parks in total :D

This here is the Water Park,  where you can cool off under the hot sun at the Sandy Bay, or just go swimming in the jungle wave pool! We took the opportunity to experience their Adventure River, which is about 600m long, the longest in SEA!

The Amusement park had all the rides that you can find in Sunway Lagoon, and more! I got to experience my favourite amusement ride, the Dragon Flight! It's the one where you get suspended on chains and they swing you around, up and down. Most awesome ride ever, and one that I will always get on whenever I see one!

We had our lunch in the Kepura Caves, illuminated by lanterns, it gives off the perfect setting for a romantic hang out! Too bad there were 30 of us all in there, making the mood seem less romantic than it actually is :p

Before we started off on our journey of discovery around the place, Mamasan Tammy took a few minutes to say a few words. Basically what she said was thanks to LWOT for hosting us, and thanks to us Butterflies for being so awesome!!! *perasan*  hehehehe

This is the pinnacle of Tambun,  can't remember exactly how tall it is, but it's located at the Team Building site, and if not mistaken, they use it for climbing :)

After our lunch, we were brought to the petting zoo :) where there are about 55 species of animals altogether!

The star of the zoo is Ruby, a cute Raccoon who loves her nuts :p It was raccoon feeding time when we arrived, and the park ranger was feeding her some nuts. You might think she is shy in this pic, but the next pic will show you just how daring she is!

Without hesitation, once the ranger held the nut out, her paws came out and she easily picked the nut off the ranger's hands! We were so awed by it we asked him to do it again and again! Isn't she a cutie?

"This ain't heavy, it's just a log!"

Over at the other end, we saw her friend, trying to pick up a log! I guess he thought he will have Superracoon strength after feeding time :p

We were shown many other animals, but at the risk of making this post too long, I wouldn't post it. Just suffice to say they have tortoises, rabbits, deers, snakes, ponies and many many more!

If you want to make a trip to the LWOT petting zoo, don't miss out on these feeding times :)

Raccoon Feeding Show : 12.00 noon
Tortoise Feeding Show : 2.00 pm
Wild Feeding Show : 3.30 pm

Next up, we went to the Bird Paradise, where we were given the opportunity to feed all the birds there! Bird Paradise houses about 18 species of birds in a completely natural setting. There are no nets holding them back, and the aviary is as spacious as you can imagine.

With just a call, the birds come flocking in, anticipating food. Each bird species has different dietary requirements, and I'm glad I got to feed some pigeons, the peacock, and some birds which I forgot the name of *sorry*

LOL sempat camwhore with the birdie :p I bet he was giving me a look when I took my camera up and started telling him to look at the camera :p

This is the lovebird, who is only comfortable around the ranger's shoulders. She will bite anyone else that comes  near her, so we only took pictures and admired her :p Looks like a baby parrot, but don't be fooled by her small size. Her bites are extremely painful! *I didn't get bitten, but that's why I hear them say*

.....and we are back on the train on our journey  to visit the next attraction, the Tin Valley :) Not sure if you guys know this, but tin mining is actually one of the main industries that developed the city of Ipoh. So much so, that it was known as "The City that Tin Built", so you can guess why it's still such a big deal to Ipoh citizens :) Most famous of all is Kinta Valley, and the Lost World Tin Valley aims to educate today’s generation in the rich heritage of tin mining in Ipoh.

Which is why the Tin Valley attraction is in the form of a Tin Mining area, equipped with a life-sized palung (sluice box), an original gravel pump monitor and a large area for young visitors to experience “Dulang Washing”(Tin Ore Panning) just like the good old days. Visitors can also learn about the history of tin mining and see real artifacts from the past at the Galleria.

We were given a chance to pan for tin as well, and that's me happily posing with the tin I managed to pan! It was a hot hot hot day as the scorching sun was shining down on us, and it really made me wonder how those ladies in the olden days could do this for the whole day!

Know this place? This will be what I will be writing about in Part three of my LWOT series! The Lost World Hot Springs and Spa :)

So stay tuned! :)

We had such a great time at the Theme Park, I can't wait to go back there again!
