Eau Thermal Avene Workshop with Vanity Trove at Cafe Barbera Bangsar

A few weeks ago, thanks to Vanity Trove, we were given the opportunity to attend an event at Cafe Barbera hosted by Vanity Trove and Eau Thermal Avene, the specialist for Sensitive Skin :)

It all began in 1736...

The therapeutic use of Avène Thermal Spring Water goes back a long way, and for more than 250 years, Avène Thermal Spring Water has been recognised for its soothing and softening properties on Sensitive Skin.

The curative powers of the water were discovered by chance when a horse afflicted with severe skin rashes was cured after drinking and bathing in the water. The fame water from Avène spread far beyond the borders of France: Avène Thermal Spring Water was successfully used in treatment of severe burns after the Great Fire of Chicago in 1871. This healing power comes from Avène-les Bains (The Avène Baths) thermal spring water in southern France, which has been declared to be of public benefit in dermatology since 1874.

Avène Thermal Spring Water takes in vital minerals and trace elements as it filters through the rocks of the River Orb Valley. After a subterranean journey lasting over 40 years, the water emerges at the spring, rich in soothing and softening properties. Its well-established properties, acknowledged by numerous dermatological studies, make Avène Thermal Spring Water the ideal care for sensitive skin.

Launched in 1990 the Eau Thermale Avène skincare brand was created to capture these same healing benefits to soothe sensitive skins worldwide. Avène is widely recognized as #1 in French pharmacies among dermo-cosmetic skincare brands and also the most recommended by dermatologists and pharmacists worldwide.

At the workshop, we were given an extensive briefing on the benefits of Avene Thermal Spring Water as well as the importance of having the right skin care for your skin.

They have a lot of products for different ranges of sensitive skin, as below:

Cleanance - For Oily & Blemished Skin
Sensitive White - For Whitening
Hydrance Optimale - For Dehydrated Skin
Eluage - For Anti-Ageing
Sérénage - For Anti-Ageing
Essential Care - For Normal to Combination Skin
Complementary Care - Extra Care for Lackluster Skin
Hypersensitive - For Intolerant and Allergic Skin
Cold Cream & TriXèra Selectiose - For Dry and Very Dry Skin
Sun Protection - Sunblock

There were many bloggers present at the workshop that day, and we were all given a set of miniature skin care products that cater for sensitive skin to try out.

They all look so adorable up close right? small little bottles of skincare that cater to different needs of different skin.

This is actually the Star of the day, Eau Thermal Avene's Thermal Spring Water that is touted to be able to soothe skin on top of giving skin the moisture it needs. Initially I thought it's just a formulation, but apparently in the can itself, is just the spring water and Nitrogen. Don't worry, Nitrogen is not in the product itself, it's the gas to ensure that the water comes out when you press the pump.

That day we had a very special briefing by Jacqueline, who taught us the benefits of the thermal spring water and what other range of products we will be trying out that day.

Did you know, the spring water is bottled at source and contains only the water. What happens is that they bore down deep into the soil and the spring water that comes out is immediately bottled. So what you have in the Avene bottle is just the spring water and is free of any contaminants.

Oh and during the briefing, we had servings of coffee too! :D

What I have in my hand is a piece of Southern France :p

To start off, we were given a lightweight make up remover that is water based to remove the make up we had on. Here's one of the Avene representatives showing how to remove the make up from JQ :) For me, the make up is pretty good in removing make up, but not waterproof make up, unfortunately. It couldn't remove my waterproof mascara, and believe me when I tell you it's waterproof. It's really hard to remove. But I was told that I had to leave it on a while longer to break down the mascara before sweeping it off with the remover. No worries, I can try this again as I was given a small bottle to bring back and try out :)

After cleansing the face (I used the Cleanance range as my face is combination oily skin), each of us were given a dry face mask to try out. Another benefit of the spring water is that you can use it as a mask :D Just soak it with the spring water, and put it over your face like how you would use a normal mask :)

As an added measure, you can also relax your eyes by wetting two cotton pads with the spring water and putting them over your eyes.

Looks a bit funny, but trust me, they really work wonders and my skin feels really soft and supple after using it.

Check out myself, Erra and Sarah chilling and relaxing with our masks on :) I almost didn't want to take it off :p And I went out to get myself a pack of dry masks so that I could use them at home with the spring water :D

So after the mask and toner, it's time to slap on some moisturiser! :p according to Jacqueline, I should use the Hydrance range for the moisturiser as it gives me a matte look on top of being SPF20. According to her, it controls shine and oil. After using it, I must agree :) I like that it doesn't give my face a shiny appearance after using it, and I don't feel like I have anything on at all!

After moisturiser, this is one of the most important steps in skincare (actually all are important, so don't skip it!). It's time to put on sunblock :D As my face is combination oily, Jacqueline recommended that I use the Cleanance range, with SPFF30 and PA+++. Similar functions and it also blocks UVA and UVB rays.

So here you have it ladies, the range of skin care products I used during the workshop :) make up remover, Cleanance range cleanser, toner, and sunblock, Hydrance range moisturiser, and of course Avene's Thermal Spring Water for my mask :D

I love my skin!!! Finally, I have found something that I can use to soothe my face and refresh me after a long days work :D

Of course, pictures is a must have for us bloggers :p

Check out all our radiant faces!!!

At the end of the workshop, we were all surprised by Vanity Trove as they gave us customised boxes chock-full of Avene products!

This is the box I received, I got the Cleanance range, which is specially formulated for acne-prone and oily skin :) How can you not love Vanity Trove with all their awesome product offerings and sensitivity?

For more information on Avene products, you can hop on to their Facebook link here *click* to find out more! In addition to that, if you write in to them to request for samples to try out before you fully commit to whether you want to purchase their product, you can do so as well. They will definitely try their level best to pass the product samples to you :) I'm quite interested to try out their eye cream actually, so I will definitely write in to them and see if they have any more samples left.

Thanks so much to Vanity Trove and Avene for organising this lovely event for us bloggers to get to know our skin better :)

Vanity Trove is available for subscribers at RM50 a box and this will be sent to you at the beginning of each month! :)

xoxo,
yin
