However, being Chinese of different backgrounds, their tastebuds are a little different, and chefs started to improve and modify the thick broth to make it lighter while keeping the taste distinctly original. To cater to this new variety, it was renamed "Lam Mee" based on the Cantonese dialect. This new and improved Lam Mee has a smooth texture and became a favourite amongst Chinese in the Central and Southern part of Malaysia.
Original Lam Mee, RM9.80
Needless to say, Lam Mee is Lammeeya's specialty and signature dish. The broth is smooth without being too salty, and the texture of the noodles and all its ingredients are just right, not too overwhelming :D
Duck Egg Char Kueh Tiaw, RM10.80
Next up we have the duck egg char kueh tiaw. This dish instantly became a favourite amongst the other bloggers, mostly due to its unique taste. The salted egg lent it a distinct taste which sets it apart from most other char kueh tiaw dishes. Trust me, you will not be able to find this anywhere else.
Mushroom with Mince Meat Chee Cheong Fun, RM6.80
Since coming to KL, I've had many different enoucnters with different varieties of Chee Cheong Fun. I was told this is how they do it in Penang. I love it! The mix of mushrooms with the minced meat is a must try :D
Pickled Chilli and Sweet Sauce Chee Cheong Fun, RM6.80
Steam Pork with Dong Choy, RM8.80
As you all probably know by now, Lam Mee Ya is a non-halal restaurant, and gladly so :D Their pork dishes are so good! The steam pork with Dong Choy brings me back to a time when I was still in Kuching, and my dad used to steam the pork all the time. It was good enough to cater to a meal for the whole family, and this one's no exception. Order this with a bowl of rice, and you're set for a filling dinner!
Chinese Sausage Rice, RM9.80
This typical Asian Fare has an authentic taste to it, not too tasteless, but not too salty either. Just right for a lunch meal :)
Pork Leg with Vinegar, RM13.80
If you're a fan of Pork Leg, you have to try this! Too few places serve awesome pork leg nowadays, but Lam Mee Ya is not one of them! Their Pork Leg is delicious, and I had to resist another bite after I finished mine :D
Ginger and Wine Omelette, RM8.80
Another authentic Chinese fare, some shops overdo it with too much wine. However, Lammeeya has it just right with just the right balance of ginger and wine. The natural taste of the omelette was also brought out to make this a truly satisfying dish.
Salted Steam Chicken, RM8.80
My first time ever trying this dish, and glad to say, it goes rather well with my tastebuds :D It is rich with different Chinese herbs, ginger, keichi and "dong kwai". My first bite was a little tangy, due to the herbs, and goes really well with white rice
Stewed Pork with Potato, RM8.80
Yet another intriguing pork dish is this particular one, my initial thoughts was that potatoes are mostly good for soup and chicken. Little did I know it pairs with pork really well. A must try if you make a stop at Lammeeya
Lady Finger, RM8.80
One of my favourite vegetables are Lady Fingers. I grew up eating Lady Fingers cooked with garlic. Our local hokkien dialect gives a pronunciation of "io kak tao" which literally translates to an English version of "Goat's horn bean" :p yes, it is rather funny, and everytime I see this dish, I will remember my dad's English translation with fondness :) Although Lammeeya's version is a little different, it tastes good too!
ABC Soup, RM8.80
One of the surprises I had at Lammeeya was their stewed soup collection. I loved their soup so much that a few weeks after that, whenever I ate out with bb I would always search for stewed soup, and oftentimes will compare it to Lammeeya's. More often than not, I was disappointed. Lammeeya's stewed soup is really good :D If I were to come back, this would be a must order item on my menu :D
Old Cucumber Soup, RM8.80
One of the major plus points for me was their extensive and extremely healthy drinks menu, as below:
Chestnut and Lotus, RM8.80
Watermelon & Lychee Juice, RM8.80 - one of my favourites
Cucumber & Lime & Limau Kasturi Juice, RM8.80 - very refreshing
Cham, RM5.20
Bittergourd Juice, RM8.80 - awesome taste btw :D
Oh and did I mention they have delectable desserts as well??
Moist Chocolate Cake, RM7.50
Tiramisu, RM11.00
Belgium Forest, RM7.50
Vanilla Raspberry Cake, RM8.00
Oreo Cheesecake, RM9.50
Banana Crepe
